Dallas Fort Worth Area IMA Small Business Seminar is postponed

As of Tuesday, March 10th, we are postponing our Small Business Seminar scheduled for next week until later this year.

IMA has been assessing the COVID-19 situation regarding the coronavirus outbreak. Our number one priority remains with our social responsibility for the safety of our members, speakers, and partners.

Due to many unknowns about the virus including how it is contracted and spread, out of caution, all IMA events scheduled between now and April 30 must be cancelled. This includes all chapter and council conferences, training events and meetings.

The Dallas Fort Worth Area IMA Chapter will meet Thursday, March 19th at the Texas Star Golf Course, 1400 Texas Star Parkway, Euless, Texas

The Unique Accounting Needs of Family Businesses by Tom Pryor, President of ICMS, Inc. & Mentor

Tom Pryor, a certified family business advisor, will describe the unique financial reporting needs of family businesses. “For an accountant working in or with a family business, the family tree may be just as important as the general ledger.” Tom will also cover the conditions when a family business needs to upgrade from basic accounting software, such as QuickBooks, to an enterprise software solution.

Tom Pryor is a Denton-based family business advisor, whose diverse 50-year career includes 19 years in Fortune 500 financial management, founder of a 30 year old consulting and software company that specialized in Activity Based Costing followed by serving as Director of the University of Texas at Arlington’s Small Business Development Center.


Tom currently serves on the advisory board of Baylor’s Family Business Institute, teaches at Baylor and SMU, is secretary of the Denton Junto, serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Corporate Accounting & Finance, delivers Meals-on-Wheels, mentors armed service vets and Texas prison inmates, and has authored six books.
