Session 1: Understanding and Supporting Better Cybersecurity

Overview:

The world agrees, Cybersecurity matters. Organizations of all sizes are under attack and have a responsibility to protect their data and their customer’s data. Regulations, compliance standards, and insurance policies exists to show businesses how to secure themselves; and yet, reports of breaches hit the news every day. What we are doing isn’t working and it will take the entire organization working together to fix it.

In this presentation, we will discuss:

  • What is Cybersecurity;
  • Why organizations can’t seem to protect themselves;
  • Where Regulations and compliance standards are missing the mark;
  • How a new way of thinking across the organization can protect data for everyone.

Alex Humphrey is a passionate cyber security author and speaker who serves as the Senior Security Consultant at CriticalSTART. He works with organizations globally to build security into their endpoint, server, and cloud environments. Alex holds numerous security and cloud certifications including the AWS Certified Security Specialty. He graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science from the University of Texas at Dallas.

Session 2: Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity

Overview:

More and more organizations are beginning to realize the importance of having plans to address recovery efforts in the event of a disaster. This presentation will cover the purpose and benefits of organization-wide plans for business continuity and disaster recovery. Core components and phases to develop the plans will be discussed to help your organization be ready for the next big one.

Toan Nguyen is a Senior Manager with Stinnett & Associates and is based in Oklahoma City. As a Certified Internal Auditor and an Associate Business Continuity Professional, he has over 10 years of internal audit experience, managing and performing financial, operational and compliance audits. His focus industries include higher education and non-profits. Toan also works with clients to facilitate the development of business continuity plans and disaster recovery efforts. He frequently speaks on the importance of business continuity preparedness to bring awareness of how the next big disaster can affect an organization’s business. Toan holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of New Orleans and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Texas at Dallas, where he completed the Internal Auditing Education Partnership. 

Marci McCloskey is a Senior Manager with Stinnett & Associates and is based in Oklahoma City. As a Certified Information Systems Auditor and an Associate Business Continuity Professional, she has over seven years of IT experience, focusing on internal audit and security. Her expertise at Stinnett includes Sarbanes-Oxley documentation and testing, IT Risk Assessments, IT process documentation and gap analysis, Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery documentation and reviews and outsourced IT Service Provider reviews among others. Marci holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Management Information Systems
