Responsibilities:

  • Establish standard costs and update them in accordance with company policies
  • Maintaining financial reports, records, and general ledger accounts
  • Performing monthly balance sheet reconciliations, including inventory, fixed assets, and other asset accounts
  • Evaluate Excess and Obsolete inventory reserves, as part of the close process
  • Analyzing actual manufacturing costs and preparing periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs
  • Reviewing changes in product design, raw materials, manufacturing methods or services provided, to determine effects on cost
  • Performing month-end cost accounting close, including the preparation of journal entries
  • Coordinates physical inventories and monitors the cycle count programs
  • Assist in the preparation of balance sheet and income statement fluctuation analyses
  • Assist in the preparation of the DZS US’ reporting unit reporting package
  • Assist in the preparation of balance sheet and income statement fluctuation analyses
  • Perform general accounting duties as required
  • Perform analyses of general ledger account details, when required
  • Assist in aggregation of consolidated inventory for financial reporting purposes
  • Liaise with external auditors in resolving their audit requests in a timely manner
  • Responsible for assisting in updating documentation of process and procedures for
  • SOX purposes, and ensuring controls are executed.
  • Work with other finance personnel in gathering supporting documentation for the financial statement and Sox audits
  • Participate in special projects and perform additional duties as required.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting required
  • CPA or CMA preferred, not required
  • 7-10 years’ experience required; experience with telecom or other high-tech equipment manufacturers a plus.
  • Minimum of 5 years of Cost Accounting experience
  • Experience with process improvement projects and ability to manage multiple on- going projects
  • Demonstrated understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principle (GAAP)
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel and Word skills required
  • Diligent, highly efficient and accurate, with extreme attention to detail and exceptional organizational and time management skills

JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for timely and accurate preparation of the US GAAP quarterly and annual global income tax reporting.  In addition, the incumbent oversees the preparation, review, and filing of US federal, state, local tax returns and Canadian tax returns, including direct and indirect taxes.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for the preparation of the global ASC 740 interim and annual income tax provision, with assistance from the global accounting and tax personnel
  • Develop new policies and process improvements which embrace integration of technological solutions to automate tax processes by building scalable processes and workpapers that are comprehensive, clear, concise.
  • Manage and coordinate the US and Canadian tax return compliance process to ensure tax filing obligations are accurate and filed within established timeframes, including income, sales, property, withholding and value added taxes with both internal staff and external service providers.
  • Oversee the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA) reporting
  • Provide support for US and Canadian tax planning activities and tax audit inquiries.
  • Provide research including analysis and interpretation of relevant tax laws, regulations, cases and agency guidance related to US GAAP tax reporting and US and Canadian statutory legislative tax changes.
  • Partner and build collaborative relationships across multiple functions such as Finance, Accounting, Treasury and Legal to drive cross functional efficiencies.
  • Train, mentor and develop members of the Tax department, work with peers to maintain a positive and collaborative team atmosphere.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must have a minimum of 10 years of corporate tax experience, including 6 years in corporate Income tax and ASC 740 reporting
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, Master’s in Taxation or other post-graduate degree, and CPA required.
  • Skilled verbal communication with the ability to communicate at all levels, as well as with external auditors and contractors.  
  • Advanced level experience with tax provision/accounting software; OneSource Tax Provision Preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively guide and inspire team members to accomplish goals   
  • Proactive and detail-oriented individual with a sense of urgency, superior organizational skills managing multiple initiatives, strong analytical and critical thinking ability and interpersonal aptitude.

Staff Accountant

SUMMARY OF FUNCTIONS

The Staff Accountant will share in the responsibility for the financial strategy that ensures the fiscal health and sustainability, as well as for day-to-day fiscal operations for Select Milk Producers, Inc. and it’s subsidiary companies. In this role, the Staff Accountant will report to the Senior Accounting Manager. The Staff Accountant will work with other Accounting leaders in the preparation of financial statements, general ledger account review, will serve as an expert for the milk accounting, reporting, distribution and billing. The position will be responsible for the successful completion of the payroll process which will include monitoring the balancing and data entry processes.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES/SUPERVISION

The Staff Accountant will have no direct reports.  However, this position will provide leadership and support for other financial professionals and non-professionals locally and in remote locations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Participate in financial statement preparation and subsidiary ledger support systems to insure accurate and timely reporting.
  • Provide advice and timely, accurate analysis of financial reports and milk accounting issues.
  • Data management associated with milk/component weights, resolution, or modifications within our operating systems.
  • Perform due diligence processes to ensure that data entry and processing functions were accurately performed.
  • Validate the payments have been processed according to the Federal Order regulations. Includes but not limited to checking formulas, pricing, labs, and milk/component weights.
  • Identify producer payroll issues or areas for improvement and conduct the necessary research to recommend solutions.
  • Support management in resolving client disputes and issues relating specifically to the Producer Payroll service function.
  • Provide recommendations and support for a system of internal controls.
  • Participate in the preparation of consolidated financial statements and various reports.
  • Review and allocate approved charges and fees via intercompany billings among entities for items such as software support and maintenance, management fees, accounting services, liability insurance and analytical services.
  • Review all accounting processes and procedures to develop more effective, efficient and accurate methods of managing financial functions.
  • Participate in daily cash management.
  • Seek advice when warranted from management, legal, Accounting or financial advisors.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

The Staff Accountant will have a bachelor’s degree (B. S. or B. A.) in Finance or Accounting plus three or more years of Accounting experience. Dairy industry knowledge preferred. Accounting/Financial system implementation experience helpful.
